Guide to my Ratings!

I realize I have never officially created a rating system. From this point forward, I will use these standards for my in depth reviews.

Overall

Measuring Ratings

I have a problem with indecision while reviewing books, so I will be utilizing letter grades.

A+: best I’ve ever seen, absolute perfection
A: amazing, almost nothing can compare
A-: really great, above average by far
B+: quite good, possibly with some tiny flaws
B: good; enjoyable, but definitely can be improved
B-: could be better, overall not bad
C: fair, several large flaws
C-: meh, not great, somewhat irritated
D: bad, really annoying and flawed
F: awful, could not continue

Please keep in mind that I am human, and these grades are kind of flexible. In some cases I might mix two grades together like A+/B- so I don’t have to decide.

Also! To calculate the final overall, I will give each letter grade a number and average all of them. A+ will be 10 points, and F is 1. This way, it’ll be fair and more accurate. Mixed grades will result in a decimal.

I will be posting my review policy in the near future, hopefully, so be watching for that.

Please let me know, what you think of my rating system! Comment below to leave feedback, your own rating system, or to request clarification.

  1. Loving the detailed rating system ๐Ÿ˜€ With some books, they’re so hard to rate because you feel like you can’t just rate the book as a whole–you gotta break it down and rate different categories. Nice job!!

    • Thank you so much! I feel like this system, although more detailed, will make my review writing time shorter. And I have enough trouble rating books on goodreads, so I hope this makes everything better ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I want to focus on romantic relationships in this category. Writing “Relationships” would imply family, friends, enemies, etc. I’m saving the other kinds of relationships for the misc category because I usually don’t have much to say about them. ๐Ÿ™‚
